Job 40:8
“Will you even put me in the wrong?
Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?”
Lord, every time I question my life and doubt You, I make You wrong by saying I know better how things should be. I can’t serve two masters, it’s either you or my flesh. Either You are God or You’re not.
If You are God, then everything about You is true. Everything, Your power, Your grace, Your love, Your creation, Your truth, Your way, Your forgiveness, Your salvation. Everything. This means Your tactics or strategy are for me to come to know You better; Your purpose for doing so and Your need to use trials as Your tool that I may experience a deeper love for You.
My goal is not perfection. God, You will transform me into your likeness. I can’t do this. My goal is to love You more in the process.
There is no one righteous, not one. None ever reached the goal of perfection this side of heaven. The greatest spiritual people known on earth claim their wretchedness. But to say Your will not mine with a pure heart, is the best we can love God. Cancel the lie once and for all that you must perform at a certain level to please God.
Adam, Noah, Moses, Joshua, Jacob, Abraham, Paul, David, Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, Brother Lawrence, Mother Theresa, Billy Graham, Oswald Chambers, everyone falls short. Knowing this allows you to freely love them and yourself. No more pressure. Each one learned that the faster they turned to Jesus, the faster they were to receive his peace.
