Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
As I pray this morning for my children and grandchildren, I am fully aware of Satan’s scheme to go after the minds and souls of those my beloved family and all children around the world. Pick up a newspaper, listen to the radio or watch the news and day in and day out you read stories of abuse, sex trafficking, school shootings and gender confusion that targets our children.
Oh, how we pray for their safety.
What can a parent do to protect their children? What tools or training can a parent provide that will shield them or equip them for the day’s challenges? Where can they go to find solid ground to stand on as our moral fabric is sinking all around them? What compass can you guide them by each day that will lead them in the right direction?
As much as we want to be there every minute to protect our children this, as we all know, is impossible. Therefore, we must train up our children to be ready to engage with the darkness of the world.
God is our answer and their answer. We must pray for our children daily, talk about God every day, and share the love of Christ with them. We must show them the path to take to find Jesus as their personal savior. Guiding them towards God will be the very best gift you can give your children. This is a gift for all lifetime and into eternity. Having Christ in their life will give them the strength and wisdom and peace and joy to navigate each day. They will be partnered with the almighty God of the universe who will never leave their side. They, too, will not be shielded from the trials of the world but now they will have the armor of God to wear. All those gifts we shop for, agonized over, over spend on, stacked up from earth to heaven, will not come close to giving them the gift of knowing Jesus.
Parents and grandparents, join me on bended knee and pray for our children today and every day, for their salvation. Never give up, be ever so persistent in prayer and then let’s rejoice together as each of these precious children come to faith in Jesus.
