I love the saying “There is a world within this world if we look for it”
As we read about world disasters, crime in our streets and political scams and deceit, if we pause long enough, we can still hear a bird sing or watch a sunrise or sunset. As we rush about our busy day navigating traffic jams, piles of papers on our desk, mounting bills, if we look out a window, we can see blue skies and white clouds, we can feel a cool breeze or smell rain in the air.
As we receive a negative medical report, lose a job or are served with divorce papers we can still hear kids playing, watch someone help an elderly person cross the street or stare into the eyes of an new born.
A simple prayer, a recited poem, a list read of things we are grateful for, a hug or smile, and few verses of a worship song sang out loud or a quiet whisper of a prayer can turn darkness into light.
When I look out my window, at first I see the turmoil of the world yet as I stand there and begin to take a closer look I see that the trees are still pointed heavenward, the grass grew a few more inches on its own, either flowers are blooming or snow has made all things white and the wind blows at will. I am reminded that there is indeed another world in the depth of this world if I look for it where all things are good.
As I walk away from the window, I return to the tasks at hand and there is a renewed sense that God is in control, and in that moment I can feel a smile developing across my face almost like God shared with me, his secret.
Just a Thought…
