As I read and learn about the suffering and the journey that one goes through, not only physically and emotionally, but even more so spiritually, I came to the same conclusion. After acknowledging, at all levels, that the journey is overwhelming and torturous at times, we all reach the same question in the end, NOW WHAT?
The doctors deliver the bad news, the family rallies around, the church prays, yet you are left alone to suffer. What do you or can you do? Even God Himself says the suffering may not be taken away.
We understand His teaching on perseverance. We accept that He too has experienced the same pain. Yet again, we are left alone facing the question, NOW WHAT?
Now what am I to do? I’m at the crossroads of life. For at this juncture, there are only two ways to turn. One towards the world and seek relief through the venues it has to offer, or trust that there is a God that can carry you through this suffering in a way that transcends the human understanding. Notice I did not say the suffering will be removed, but rather that He will shore you up during it.
Of course, we all ask for all suffering to be eliminated in the world, yet don’t take responsibility for the root reasons it exists in the first place.
So where does that leave us? Back to the question, NOW WHAT?
When left standing facing that juncture, which will you choose? Where will you put your trust? What will be the deciding factor in your decision?
NOW WHAT will you do?
