Joshua 3:5
5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
The Anticipation of What God Will Do
When Jesus promises things, He fulfills those promises. Joshua did not know exactly what those things would be. From reading the scripture, we don’t see anywhere that Joshua was trying to guess what God was going to do. He just trusted that whatever it was, it would be amazing.
In your life, God is saying, “Refrain from doing anything about your circumstance, but know that you are not to be afraid and that you can have peace and courage and joy. Know that I, your God, will do amazing things.” He will handle today, tomorrow and the next day in amazing ways — if you just let Him.
Psalms 5:3;
3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.
Anticipating That God Will Provide
In reality, God knows what you need. Remember, He has a plan and wants us to join His plan —not Him joining ours. He really does have a plan for our lives.
It’s like a boss who comes in early or stays late working on a plan for his staff, or a coach coming up with strategies for his team. The plan is designed to help everyone succeed or win. A boss could say the same to his staff, “I have a plan for you, not to harm you but to prosper, to win to succeed.” But it’s God’s plan I am to join.
Did Joshua lead a predictable, boring life following God’s plan? No way — it doesn’t get any more exciting than to be in God’s plan.
His plan includes healing the sick, raising the dead, parting seas, sending fire from heaven and water from rocks. His plan today is helping others, restoring marriages, finding peace in the chaos, protecting His children from Satan’s schemes, giving joy in the darkness, hope to the hopeless, purpose to the mundane, food for the hungry, compassion to the oppressed, a home for the lost, and watch lives be transformed for eternity.
When He says He will give us life to the fullest, He didn’t mean in a worldly sense. For He knew what so many millionaires meant when they said that the pursuit of money and possessions is empty one, yet their greatest gain was when they served another person. Living life to the fullest is only met when it involves giving of ourselves. Therefore Jesus said, “He who loses his life for me will find life.”
You want joy, so serve another person today. That is how simple life’s formula is.
Love God, love people. That’s it.
The flow of life:
Training, then implementation; training, then implementation
The purpose of life:
Love God and love people.
The outcome of life:
Live life on earth to the fullest, with a heart filled with the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Live life into eternity in the presence of God in a realm of unspeakable joy forever.
