God is Faithful

1 Corinthians 1:9

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Faithful means steadfast in affection or allegiance.

Was there a time you found God not to be there for you? Yes, there are times God is silent and it appears that He is not there, yet we know that not to be true. There is a difference between silence and presence.

Can you be in a room with a person who is silent yet know they are present? When was the last time you couldn’t find God? Was He missing, hiding, or did He vanish? God says He will never leave you or forsake you. He did not say He would not be silent.

Can we find comfort in knowing God is always present with us and yet find a peace in His silence? What is more important to you if you were to choose: His faithfulness or hearing His voice?

If God is always present and steadfast in His affection and allegiance to us, then what creates the gap between God and us?

We find all sorts of examples in this world of unfaithfulness. At home, at work, in government, in marriage, in friendships, in business. We actually have built into our expectations that faithfulness is unachievable yet, we long to be wrong. We are now trained never to trust 100%. This has been our mantra to protect us from hurt. So, by default, we apply the same thinking to God. We will give Him a little higher percentage but always keep that one percent to ourselves just in case He lets us down. Now who’s not being faithful?

The problem is God demands the full portion. He has given us one hundred percent and wants the same in return. If you are in doubt of His faithfulness, then as you are awakened by His sunshine, breathe oxygen into your lungs, begin to move the limbs of your body, clothe yourself, feed yourself, drive through all of creation, ask yourself how to do I know God is faithful?
