We don’t come to God to ask for forgiveness. We come to God to thank Him for His forgiveness. We come to God to express our heartfelt sadness for our sinfulness that caused Him to have to sacrifice His only Son on our behalf.
A person once said that if you really want to show someone you love them, let them know that you accept the love they have for you. When a person sincerely loves someone, the best gift you can give them is to accept their love.
When we come to God asking Him over and over again to forgive us, that would be insulting to Him. Rather, we come to accepting His love and with a grateful and humbled heart. We confess our sins not for God’s sake for He knows our sins, but for ours. For when we acknowledge our sins for what they are, it humbles us – which frees us from our pride.
May we show God how much we love Him by accepting His love, which He poured out to us through Jesus’ death on the cross.
