O holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appeared, and the soul felt its worth.
That night was different for all nights prior the stars were brightly shining. But this night was going to be different for all of mankind and for all of eternity.
Why did God choose this night of all nights? – We may never know.
Imagine laying there watching the stars like so many other nights. Deep in thought, maybe you knew God, maybe not. But there you were in a certain point of time with nothing but a choice to try and do better at navigating life on earth. You might have had even the hope instilled in you by your faith of a messiah to come and longed for that day.
There were a few others who knew this day was coming, Mary and Joseph, and Mary’s aunt and uncle. Yet, even they didn’t know all that was about to happen from this day forward. The magnitude, the significance, the miracles, the sacrifice, the suffering, the freedom the rejoicing – who could have imagined?
Fall on your knees
O hear the angels’ voices
This is all we can do, and we want to do. Words are nowhere to be found, you try to summon your deepest expression of joy, gratefulness, hope, yet falling to your knees seemed to be the appropriate place to be.
The heavens roared with song as the angels rejoiced at full voice.
What a night, such a holy night.
Tomorrow will surely be different but for now let’s bask in this greatest of all miracles that God performed and be in awe of the wonder of it all.
O night divine
O night when Christ was born
O night divine o night
O night divine
Ooh yes it was
Ooh it is the night of our dear Savior’s birth
Just a Thought…
