Ask yourself; “Why am I coming to God? How am I coming to God?”
I am seeking wisdom.
I am seeking discernment.
I am seeking comfort.
I am seeking strength.
I am seeking forgiveness.
I am seeking peace.
I am seeking joy.
The question is for what reason am I seeking these things?
If I were to get all the things I request, then what?
What will I do with all these gifts?
If your answer is you would share them, then you can see why God would want to give them to you. On the other hand, if you keep them to yourself, then you would be out of God’s will.
When God asks us to check our motives for prayer, He wants to know what your desire is for asking Him to bless your life.
John 5:19
19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
