I find it interesting that we will pay for personal trainers to teach us and talk us through exercise routines and allow them to bring our bodies to stressful and painful places, for we know afterwards we will receive the benefit. We pay for career coaches to encourage us, guide us, tell us the hard truths and challenge us in order that we may find a more profitable and meaningful career. We pay for therapists who will listen to our woes, allow for us to be vulnerable and then gently guide us back to a place we can now cope. We pay for financial planners, tax advisors, weight loss counselors, and on and on it goes.
Yet, we have a Lord that can guide us with the power of almighty God, who is with us each moment of every day ready to teach us and guide us in our relationships, finances, careers, our bodies, our minds, our parenting, and more, however, we chose to pay outsiders for this service?
God is not telling us not to use the help from others. In fact, He encourages us to share our lives that way yet, He does tell us to seek him first, His guidance, His advice, His comfort, His strength. To submit to His plan and purpose and from there He will bring people in our lives to join us in our journey here on earth.
For some reason, we find it easier to write a check or take a pill before we seek out the Lord. Access to God was paid for by Jesus’ death on the cross so we who believe now have a lifetime free pass to come to Him. Put your checkbook away, come to Jesus freely and let Him be your coach whispering in your ear all day words of encouragement, wisdom, comfort, and feel His strength as you grab hold of His hand and begin the climb of the mountain that is challenging you. At the end of the day, rejoice with Him in your victory and sleep in peace as He watches over you planning for the day ahead.
Just a Thought…
