Decision Time

Whom do you fear when faced with a trial in need of deciding to choose?

The world?
What will my friends think?
What will my family think?
How much money it costs?
How will it affect my position?
What will the community think?
What will my boss think?
What will my spouse think?
What will my church think?
What about my ego?
What about my plans I had?
But I really loved him/her.
What about my body?
What about my possessions?
But my heart is broken!
But it’s the only one like it.
But what about my business?
But what about my retirement?
Buy what about my security?
But what about my career?
But what about my education?

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac, who became the love of his life and by doing so. God said, “Now I know you have chosen me.” God stopped Abraham before he was to kill his son. Many times, God just wants us to do a heart check. In Abraham’s case, God had very big plans for him, ones that would require Abraham’s total allegiance. He needed Abraham to be all in.

On the other hand, when Jesus asked the rich man to give away his resources, the man could not do it and walked away, saddened.

Every time we are faced with the choice to trust God or the world, we make this list.
It then becomes very clear which we will choose. What we don’t pay attention to is the condition of our soul, for every time we choose the things of the world, a piece of our soul goes with it. Over time, our soul becomes bankrupt.

The path back to God is narrow but is always the same. It takes only one decision for getting back on course. What is on the list that is in your way today from choosing God?
