Don’t Be A Fool

Psalms 53:1

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

If I were to ask you how many religions there are in the world, would you know the answer?  Would you guess and say ten, maybe fifty or even a hundred?

There are over 4,300 different religions.  They range from spirits to rocks and statues to the sun, moon and the stars and from empty space, to evil, to good.

Here are the top 5 which make up 95% 

  1. Christianity (2.2 billion)
  2. Islam (1.5 billion)
  3. Non-religious (Secular/Agnostic/Atheist) (1.2 billion)
  4. Hinduism (1.1 billion)
  5. Buddhism (535 million)

 

Let’s begin by defining the word “God” per the dictionary:

“any supernatural being worshipped as controlling some part of the world or some aspect of life or who is the personification of a force”.

Is it fair to say that 95% of the world’s population believe there is a force that’s bigger than themselves that controls our universe?

Ok, so I will make the leap and say almost everyone believes there is a God.  So as the scripture said only a fool would say there is no God.  Are you a fool?  Probably not.

But, of course, the scripture I referenced came from the Bible so its reference to God is meant to mean the God of Christians.  So, the question that each person needs to answer is not if there is a God, but which one do I believe in.

I would like to suggest that this is an important question to get right being that you will be adopting its philosophy and adapting your life style and future accordingly.   I’m not going to attempt to debate the merits of each of the 4300 different religions for I will leave that up to those smarter than me.  What I would debate easily is that you should make your decision wisely.  Do your homework.  Know that you alone have to decide.

I recommend looking at the top five.  At least then you covered 95% of your choices.

For me, I chose the Christian God. Who will you choose?  In the end, don’t be a fool nor be fooled by all those who claim to be god but can’t deliver on their promises.  Your life will depend on getting this right.
