From Wailing to Dancing

Exodus 14:10

10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.

… The Journey In Between …

Exodus 15:20-21

20 Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrel and dancing. 21 Miriam sang to them:

“Sing to the Lord,
    for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver
he has hurled into the sea.”

It took just one chapter, but they had to go through the Red Sea to experience it.

We, too, go through chapters in life. Some chapters are short and some are long, but eventually you get to the next chapter.

Your chapter in life could be four years of school, nine month of pregnancy, two years of engagement, ten years of an illness, two weeks of a vacation, twenty-four hours of waiting for that call. Each one builds on the prior one as the story unfolds.

Like a book, you can read the beginning and the end but you will never know the story without reading all the chapters.

Our lives have a beginning and an end, but our story is the journey in the middle.

Consider looking at your current chapter — or your circumstances — as temporary but knowing patiently that it has to be written before moving to the next one.
