Prophet vs Savior

John 6:14

14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

After all the miracles Jesus performed prior to His resurrection, the best they could call Him was a prophet? The difference between prophet and a savior are as wide as the Grand Canyon.

A prophet is someone who foretells about someone or something else. Although profound in nature, there is no personal connection to the prophet. He may amaze people by his skill but nothing more. For it is who or what the prophet is foretelling that has the power to produce the outcome.

A savior, on the other hand, is personal. It’s an internal acceptance and submission to the individual.

Therefore Jesus could have performed another thousand miracles and it would have had no effect on the ending.

To accept Jesus as savior puts an end to his need to perform in order to believe. We go from not believing to believing, then to help me with my unbelief.
Satan’s job is two-fold:
The first is to keep people at the stage of calling Jesus a prophet for, at best, there is no risk in this. The second job is to convince those who do believe in Jesus as savior that they were wrong in their decision.

So, this is why we pray Lord help me overcome doubt and fear.

You notice now we have gone from asking a prophet to tell us about what is to come, to a personal prayer to help us overcome.
