As a father, I pray that God protects my family from Satan’s schemes, from the trials of the world, from sickness, harmful ways, and sinfulness. I pray as a father who loves his family but knows he, himself, can only offer limited protection.
But God as our father, and we as His children, wants to protect us as well. He said He is our shield or refuge.
Yet who does He pray to?
The key difference is that He, indeed, has the power to protect us. His prayer is much different. His prayers, His desires, are that we turn to Him and trust Him. By doing so, we receive His protection.
He is always whispering to us in the midst of the noise of the world.
Just trust me.
Two fathers praying for the ones they love — like bookends surrounding their families.
