Run to Him

Will we run to Him or away from Him?

 1 Corinthians 1:21

21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

As we increase in wisdom, one would think we would draw nearer to God. Yet it seems that just the opposite happens. The more wisdom and insight and intelligence we get, the more we boast of ourselves and the more independent we become.

Ask yourself, with each new technological achievement, do we draw closer to God or away from him? Do cell phones draw us closer? Do computers, smart TVs, the Internet, email, video, texting, GPS, robotics, genome study, do they draw us closer to God?

I was watching a show on the genome study, the mapping of DNA, and how they have been able to quantify in the billions of codes, the make-up of a human. Although I walked away in awe of God due to the complexity of our being, I could not help but think, “Will this new intelligence draw us closer or are we on a pursuit to do anything we can to become independent of God?”

Imagine if God unlocked the mysteries of His works. Would we need Him anymore?

I feel we will do anything we can not to have to die to ourselves and avoid submission at all costs.

We are seeking, reading, researching, inventing ways that, hopefully, we can have eternal life on our own terms. Why do we strive so hard to earn it or perform for it, rather than humble ourselves and just receive it?

1 Corinthians 1:25

25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29

27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.

As you stand in wonder of the amazing new things this world can produce, will you run towards God or away from Him? Will you give Him the Glory, or will you give it to man?
