Genesis 3:1 The Fall
3 Now the serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden”?”
Did God really say…? The answer to these four words changed mankind forever.
History could have been written differently if Eve would have held her ground. These four words are still the most powerful words today that can change a world, depending how we answer them.
Here are some examples:
Did God really say…
Love your neighbor as yourself?
Take care of the poor and the widow?
You can’t serve two masters – God and money?
Train up your mind?
Stay away from sexual immorality?
Trust Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength?
Do not let any unwholesome words come from your mouth?
As far as it’s up to you, live at peace with one another?
Parents train up your child in the faith?
Parents do not antagonize your children?
Husband and wife respect and love each other?
Do not chase idols?
Do not be jealous of what your neighbors have?
Do not cheat on your spouse?
I will give you my peace?
I will never leave you or forsake you?
Do not worry about tomorrow?
Do not be anxious about anything?
Believe in me and you will have eternal life?
Do not steal?
Confess your sins and you will be forgiven?
There many more things God has said that can serve to give us peace, wisdom, and comfort; things that would nourish our relationships, strengthen our marriages, bond our families, prosper our businesses, protect our minds, and give rest to our souls.
Every day we are faced with the same question Eve was, did God really say? Your answer to that question will determine your next step. Choose wisely.
