Things are about to change

Imagine yourself to be living over two thousand years ago and it’s the night before Jesus was born.

For thousands of years, your people have been told the Messiah would be coming. Maybe your family prayed every night for this to happen. Maybe there was an Inherent tingle in your soul-based upon the anticipation of that day in the future. You might have created visions in your mind of how the world would be when the Messiah arrived.

Yet this night who knew in just one day that wondrous event was so near.

Only a few people knew that Jesus was about to be born. Mary, Joseph, maybe their parents, Elizabeth her aunt, and her uncle for they had given birth to John the Baptist. The three Wisemen knew as they had started their journey to be there on that special day.

But for the rest of the world, it was just another night where they slept with only hope in their hearts.

But things were about to change.

In just one day the world would never be the same.

Did Satan know this day was so close? Was he caught off guard? Or was he pacing back and forth wringing his hands in anxiety for now he knows he met his final match.

That day Jesus was born set into motion God’s final chapter. Lives would finally be saved for all of eternity. His children would be freed and restored back to him.

Yet God knew that this chapter just started. There would be a need for great sacrifice, for the goal to be reached, a sacrifice that would nor could ever be imagined or repeated.

In one day the world would benchmark as being everything before or after this day. Before Christ or after.

A baby born, how could a baby change a world. Why a baby as the messiah, why not just appear as a force to be reckoned with right from the beginning?

In just one day everything the people believed would be challenged. Traditions that were in place for thousands of years would be asked to be ignored. Preconceived thoughts will be shattered. Kingdoms will be destroyed, philosophies and theologies will be overturned.

Things were about to change.

Scripture tells us that when Jesus returns it will be like a thief in the night, so was his birth. Everyone was asleep while in a small distant town a baby was being born that would save all of mankind.

Things were about to change.

Miracles were just ahead. The blind healed, the demon-possessed freed, the lame walking, the dead has risen, water to be turned into wine, storms stopped in their place, bread and fish multiplied, a man walking on water, and more.

But tragedy was also to come. Crucifixion of an innocent man was planned in order that sin for all would be wiped clean. Resurrection was to take place defeating Satan once and for all. Eternity was finally within reach.

Things were about to change.

Just one day from now life would never be the same.

Christmas can’t be put back in a box. The day did come and the world changed.

We now live in the presence of God, we have been given his spirit inside us and our future planned for us.

The pathway is clear, timing still held secret by God but a promise was given that can’t be broken.

Tomorrow, some two thousand years later, we can celebrate this day, not like they did years ago unaware what was about to happen, but today with full knowledge that the messiah was indeed born and is with us.

We live differently yet much the same as they did. On one hand, we know Jesus was born and on the other we ignore his presence.

Let’s be reminded of how wonderful Christmas is. Let us look forward to the day ahead and rejoice in the birth of our savior.

Things had changed that wonderful day let’s us show that change to the rest of the world by spreading the love of Christ.

Just a thought…
