2 Chronicles 1:7-10
7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 8 Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
Mark 10:51
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
Have you ever thought how you would answer the question if God were to say to you, ask and it shall be given today to you? I can see your mind is churning, running through all the various choices, like a computer at top speed. Let’s see some of the options:
Freedom to do whatever and whenever I want
Extreme wealth
Perfect health
Unbelievable talent
Never having to work again
Contentment
To find peace
To have joy
To be forgiven
To be loved
Sports car
A mansion
Disease healed
Handicap restored
A loving companion
Wisdom
Prophecy
Fame
Despite receiving any one of these wishes, history will tell us that we will still come up short. What is the one answer you can give that will prove to be the best choice? The answer would be to want whatever Jesus wants. To hand your gift of a free choice over to Jesus and let Him choose.
2 Chronicles 16:9
9 For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.”
The Lord is searching the entire world looking for one who seeks the will of God. The funny thing is that when we give our free will over to Jesus, He always chooses what is best for us anyway. Be ready to give your answer the next time Jesus poses the question.
